Hi Bob,

That is a unique and rare helmet...especially for the SS type-collector. I believe that there are only a few of these Pocher "thick runes" decals known to exist. Your price is VERY reasonable for this helmet, especially with the published book provenance and previous Hicks' ownership. Best of luck with the sale.

Cheers,

Darryl

Agreed. That's a cool helmet and extremely rare. Virtually impossible to find a helmet with this type of decal on market.

I do not know whether to laugh or cry!

Did you end up buying the helmet in the original post?

the helmet that you were looking at is a post war fire fighters helmet (civilian) with a skirt to keep the cinders from falling in the back...it actually was my brother in laws who gave it to me...and NO I will not purchase this helmet for that purpose...just trying to get the helmet guys attention...and yes I purchased this helmet...it will be the end of my helmet collecting days...I have only four...five including this last one...one I bought from the Rev. Mike...one from Jr. I have a WWI transitional and one more civilian polizei type...that ends it...the one I bought from JR Meda has blood splattered all of one side of it...looks like the mans neck saved the helmet...your SteinMeister...Roland.

Congratulations on a fine acquisition. Don't be too sure that's the last of helmets for you though. Like fried oysters, they are an acquired taste, but each one calls out for "more".

Cheers
-Mike
