We have a good-sized international membership here. But for every registered member we have a lurker member, maybe more.. These are collectors that don't like to 'belong' to anything. Don't like to post their items etc. SO,, they'll email me!
We one sent me these photos asking about them.. They are poorly cast brass alloy rings made in the flat.. The counterfeiter hope that casting in the flat will help him sell. In order to avoid 'crazing' or breakage that when they heat them enough it will go into the round form well and then they can then solder.. A brass alloy is used first to see if the design comes out good and many times then heated silver will be used...
Heres a few to check out. All have a flat back.

Well, in my opinion, everything is very simple, all these rings have a reverse counter-relief, but here it is missing, and the detailing is too poor, it looks like these copies were made by some half-educated person )))
