Hi everyone, my new Winterschlacht Im Osten/Russian Front Medal - Winter 1941-42 turned up today, so its a Klein & Quenzer marker marked 65 on the ring, it also comes with a packet of issue, so I recently found out the last Winterschlacht Im Osten/ Winter 1941-42 I posted here is also a K&Q unmarked example, so I'm really happy about that, I hope everyone enjoys this new medal, Cheers Cameron.[Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image]

Thanks Joe, I've seemed to take a liking to this manufacturer all by chance to start with but now I am actively looking for their medals, trying to get a wound badge next or who knows, lol

Hi Gaspare, thanks for the comment, I'm trying to buy better medals now, when I first started I never worried too much about makers marks etc, now I try to get whatever I buy with a makers mark on it somewhere, ring, back, or pin etc, also I'm buying medals etc with a packet of issue or a cased example, eventually I'm going to replace all the medals I have bought with maker marked examples, thanks for showing an interest, cheers Cameron

Cam,,,,that IS the way to do it!! maker marked,,in box or envelope etc.. - But you got to buy when the item is not hot..... These were always kind of inexpensive.

A few years ago, I think a monograph was written on them and suddenly they were ridiculously expensive! Last few years they leveled off and have become reasonable ...

I guess everything gets its turn.. Years ago soldbuchs were inexpensive, then whatever happened they too got very expensive.. And, again they leveled off..

It would be great for you to go to a big US show,,MAX,,SOS etc. Many old time collectors are getting out,,or sadly passing away and the bargains are out there!! Seeing I guess where you live that would be kind of hard.. But do a search on MAX or SOS and have a look at whats there,,,your eyes will bug out!

Hi Gaspare, thanks for the words of encouragement, I know you said they are getting less expensive, but I've just paid £100 for the winter medal that's ok for me as I pay off every item I buy within a month, that way no interest on the credit card, soldbuchs to me are still expensive especially SS items, I know they say they are scarce, but I once tried to sell a medal id bought from a dealer back to him so I could upgrade it to a better one, his words were i can't buy it back mate, I've got hundreds at home already, he had put on the packet it was rare and sought after, that's when I realised that dealers are not collectors they are business men, only interested in money, i almost stopped buying more gear after that, probably for a year, than i started looking on website again, and i was back in again
i have seen some videos of the shows you are talking about on youtube, yes very good stuff available, I'm not sure how I could bring stuff back to the UK as the scanners would pick metal objects up and then id be hit with a massive customs bill, i did buy some stuff from lakesider
i think it was called before the tariffs were put on, also used to get CDs and T shirts, but not anymore, Cheers Cameron

Some photos you gotta look at. Last years MAX.. Smaller now , still 100s of tables and the last few years its been a buyers' market.

Yes it looks wonderful, if I was a millionaire I'd be over in a flash and damn the customs fees, lol 🤣 maybe when I win the lottery 😄
