- Was on vacation for a while. At a flea market in the Catskills and $10 later I picked this up!
SO,, it works perfectly,,,even still sharp...
Can someone date it by the photos? Not really sure what forum to put it in..
- * Are the blades supposed to be black??
The scales are simulated antler they really wood but a nice job of it.
- * Should I clean them if they not supposed to be blacked.??
So far all I did was put a single drop of gun oil at each end....

opened with all the blades. Even has the tweezers at the end!!

Gaspare, you did well.
This type of pocketknife is known as a Horseman's or Coachman's knife and was used by the German Army, probably before and after WW1. Many were made by J. A. Henckels. The hook blade is for cleaning the hoof of the horse.
The blades are probably Carbon steel, and the patina / oxidation is probably the reason for the black blades. I would not remove the patina / oxidation but do remove any live red rust.
Can you see any maker's mark on the master blade tang?

C.W. , , ok,, not on the master blade but the 3rd largest... 2 stick figures looks like holding hands...
a couple blades have a thick scale on them. Should I hit them with a stiff mini brush? or just leave entirely alone?
I'm surprised for a 100 yr old piece how well it is made ,,all the blades sharp, open and close properly, a very sturdy piece.......

Have a look at these pictures from my 1910 Henckels catalouge, pretty sure yours is in here. Note that they are listed under "Deutsche Armeemesser" exactly what you have on your knife
