Hi,

Looking at the bright colour of the metal on this piece I suspect that it may be a cast fake, may we see a picture of the reverse please?

These badges came in bronze, silver, gold, & gold with oakleaf surround (the Kreismeister) grades (although due to war time limitations, the Kreismeister badge was not actually gold coloured). Little is known about the Ferlach Kreisschiessen itself, but I suspect that the shoots took place during of the opening of the new shooting range on August 7th and 8th 1943 as part of the celebrations for the "Rosentaler Tag".

These badges were hollow backed in a poor quality metal.

Below for you to compare are my bronze, silver & Kreismeister versions (I have yet to find the gold grade). Note the dull finish to the metal.

Backside is in really bad shape. So its fake metal? It was digged with metal detector. Is it worth anything?

It’s very difficult to say. I see that the pin on the back is a short type with a round plate. This type of pin was used on them. If you look at my bronze badge, you will see an example of these short pins.

It could be an original badge the condition is too poor to be able to say from a photo.

Although these are quite scarce, I do not think it would be worth much in this condition I’m afraid.

One in perfect condition can go for about 150 euro. Although these are hard to find, there does not seem to be many collectors who want them....

Is it magnetic?

In that case it is definitely original cool

I forgot that the Ferlach badges were made by two different makers (this was quite common with Kreisschiessen badges late in the war). One maker used non ferrous metal, the other ferrous. The fakers do not use ferrous metal because it is too hard & needs very high temperatures.

Looking at your picture I would say that it is the silver grade badge. However, there is a lot of bright light on it so it is difficult to tell for sure. What colour does it look like to you? Can you take a picture in natural light?

it was really bright silver color at first when it was cleaned, but used some oil to preserve metal, so it might be oil that makes it so wierd. I can try with soda and cotton swab soflty clean.

Picture before cleaning it and now in natural light.

The corrusion came from backside to front side of metal i think

Yes, I still say that it is the silver grade badge. Although these were in different grades (bronze, silver gold etc), they were all made with the same metal & painted on the front to the colour required. Take a look at my bronze grade badge, natural metal colour on the reverse, but bronze colour on the front.
