I was able to acquire 5, (1939) issues of DER DEUTSCHE JAGER from Greece.

The advertisement of a "WAIDMESSER, ORIGINAL "LIPPERT", SCHERPING=WAFFEN, HANNOVER" caught my eye.

These images are from DER DEUTSCHE JAGER, 22 Sep. 1939.

You're welcome, Gerrit1963. Your F. Dula, Waidbesteck sets are very nice and the one in the pigskin sheath is one of the best.

These images are from DER DEUTSCHE JAGER, 4 August 1939.

There are advertisements for D. J. flags, Clemen & Jung Hirschfangers, etc.

There is a drawing of Hermann Goring with his favorite dagger.

Some hunting scene art works.

And for Gaspare, an advertisement for RINGS.

Spelling correction: BLITZKRIEG

Blitzkrieg; from Blitz 'lightning' + Krieg 'war') or Bewegungskrieg is a word used to describe a combined arms surprise attack using a rapid, overwhelming force concentration that may consist of armored and motorized or mechanized infantry formations, together with artillery, air assault and close air support, with intent to break through the opponent's lines of defense, dislocate the defenders, unbalance the enemies by making it difficult to respond to the continuously-changing front, and defeat them in a decisive Vernichtungsschlacht: a battle of annihilation.

The drawing of Hermann Goring could be from a photo.

The Dec. 23, 1938, issue of DEUTSCHES WAIDWERK on page 538 shows a picture of Hermann Goring with his favorite dagger and killed Stag that is similar to the drawing.

However, he is standing behind the Stag, not wearing his jacket and there are trees in the background. It could be the drawing is the conception of the artist, and not an exact copy of a photo.

The picture is posted on the DEUTSCHES WAIDWERK thread shown just above the picture of Goring's train.

For those who are interested there are many other german hunting magazines from all periods out there, over the years I have found many bound volumes, here is a volume of Deutsche Jagd from 1938 bound with the Deutsche Jagerschaft emblem on the cover. When these volumes were bound most of the advertisements were removed.

Initially I bought a lot of the loose magazines and realised there might be a lot of information that I found interesting, that is when I started to buy the bound volumes hoping to find even more, this is from a 1928 wild und Hund volume that shows the medals awarded for hunting competitions, I found the medal after I had bought the volume and many medals since that are similar.

I was hoping that Baz69 (Gary) would contribute to this thread and show us something amazing, he always does. I like the picture of the Hirschfanger, hunting horn & Boar spear.

I have also seen bound volumes that only show the advertisements listed for sale. I read that the Waidblatt, "Lippert", Scherping=Waffen, Hannover advertisement is in an issue of Wild und Hund from 1937.

derjager posted: "Austrian Porcelain Elk. advertisement. Can't make out other than Ostmark porzellan haus".

So here is a better image of the advertisements.

I found one of the ROSENTHAL figurines on the popular auction site.

DESCRIPTION:
Spectacular, huge, very rare sculpture of a beautiful male deer with big horns bellowing. Made of very fine hard-paste porcelain by the famous and very important German sculptor and artist Theodor Karner for (1884-1966), for the equally famous and important German Rosenthal manufacture, signed and numbered under glaze, under the base, with the Rosenthal brand. He is one of the most important German potters of the early 1900s who boasts over a thousand auction results and above all pieces sold at exorbitant prices considering that usually the porcelain of the early decades of the 1900s are heavily penalized by auction houses. In the last two photos we have reported some of the auction results obtained by the sculptures of this important artist and always consider that, to the price of the hammer, the auction fees of 25-30% must be added. Among the others there are two deer identical to ours, one in white porcelain that beat 4600 (plus 575 expenses are 5175 € total) and the colored version instead beat 3900 (plus 487.5 expenses, total of 4387.5), which instead should have gone higher, this one at proof that in auctions it does not always go as it should go. The peculiarity of this beautiful male deer are the horns. Terrifyingly big, so big that they made them detached from the head with brass pins. The only piece I've ever seen made in this way, and the horns are intact, like all the deer, without any breakage or lack, chipping, restoration or scratching of any kind.

DER DEUTSCHE JAGER, 14 April 1939

This issue has an article on a hunt with some South American Indians? The 3 dogs are on some kind of Anteater and the man on the horse is after a Llama. (see attached photos).

There is also an article called "Fur unsere Fischer", (For our Fishermen) that shows some kind of Nymphs and a man fishing (not shown).

There are the usual advertisements for hunting & fishing.

On 12 Nov. 2023 I found a 1939 subscription postcard application from Otto Muller, for DER DEUTSCHE JAGER listed on the popular auction site. I got it for $9.50 with free shipping and I was the only bidder.

The 1939 postcard has an interesting postal mark over the stamp: "MUNCHEN, Hauptstadt der Bewegung", ("MUNCHEN, Capital of the Movement").

Also on the card is a slogan with a bicycle taillight shinning on "Radfahrer ! halte den Ruckstrahler stets in Ordnung !", (Cyclist has the Reflector states in Order).

Then 2 days later I got an e-mail message from Greece: Would you want 30 more issues of DER DEUTSCHE JAGER? I thought yes if they were before 1945.

The seller in Greece sent pictures and all the magazines are from 1939. He also said he would send 33 issues and 3 would be a free gift from him.

Today I got the 1939 subscription postcard application for DER DEUTSCHE JAGER from the Parrish, Florida stamp dealer.

Sometimes life is stranger than fiction.

I found another translation for the slogan:

The German phrase “Radfahrer halte den Ruckstrahler stets in Ordnung” translates to “Cyclists always keep the reflector in order” in English.

I hope that helps!

The 33 issues of DER DEUTSCHE JAGER have arrived from Greece. 32 issues are from 1939 and one is from 5 Jan. 1940.

Lots of great drawings, photos and advertisements are inside these issues. Some issues have inserted advertisements with the cards intact for books, magazines and fine China.

Many have the F. DULA, Waidblatt advertisement. In the future, I will post some other advertisements, one is from a Solingen distributor of Hirschfanger's that I never heard of before.

Note the name "Heidenreich" on the above advertisement. I found this description of the above Rosenthal figurine from "Deep South Antiques":

Large Rosenthal Porcelain Stag Deer by Fritz Heidenreich (1895-1966)
Regular price $2,000
This large Rosenthal deer is depicted in fine detail with exceptional color. A stunning addition to any décor. The male elk, king of the Pacific Northwest, is one of the largest mammals in North America and eastern Asia, as well as one of the largest deer species in the world.

Model number 1555 Art Department, Selb Kunstabteilung factory.

Designed by Heidenreich in 1935.

Size: H 14" L 16"

Pieces created by Heidenreich are compared with the best of porcelain like Meissen and Dresden. He was a well-respected artist and created many wonderful porcelain figurines for Rosenthal, where he was employed from 1919 to 1960. Fritz Heidenreich was the head of the Rosenthal art department in Selb, Bavaria. He became famous for his forest animal and bird sculptures.

On the bottom, "F. Heidenreich" is imprinted.

I found this offered for sale and note the last sentence that Der Deutsche Jager and Deutsches Waidwerk would be combined as of 1 April 1943.

HARDBOUND ADVERTISING INSERT SECTIONS FROM THE NAZI HUNTING MAGAZINE DER DEUTSCHE JÄGER (THE GERMAN HUNTER) APRIL 1942 - MARCH 1943. Many subscribers to Der Deutsche Jäger during the Nazi era had their illustrated bi-monthly magazines hard bound as books and this was almost always done without the advertising portion of the magazine (which was printed separately and inserted in the magazine, not bound in) as that section was 'time sensitive'. Some members of the DJ or a DJ library had this sturdy 9 x 12-inch hardcover book made to preserve the Kurze Nachrichten or "Short Announcements" inserts from Der Deutsche Jäger magazines from 10 April 1942 thru 26 March 1943.

This bound volume also contains the important announcement that as of 1 April 1943 the two hunting magazines Der Deutsche Jäger and Deutsches Waidwerk would be combined, "to free up labor force".

Here we have a cover from DER DEUTSCHE JAGER 15 Dec. 1939.

An advertisement for Hirschfanger from "H. W. Pauseback, Solingen" who is probably a distributor.

An advertisement for a hunter's ring (for Gaspare), not shown from this issue is an "F. Dula" advertisement.

And two issues with the original advertising inserts for "Richten und Fuhren" & "Der Hund Nach Dem Schutz" with original subscription card and "Das Buch Des Jagers".

I find it amazing that these inserts are still in these 1939 magazines.
