Included with the amber and silver salver was some correspondence with the previous owner whose family consigned the salver to auction along with the Hitler ring. One piece was a letter from the German Ivory (Elfenbein) Museum inquiring about the salver which they believed was the work of a famous artist. Somehow the Amber Museum in Kalingrad, Russia (formerly in Königsberg East Prussia, the home of Amber manufacturing in old Germany) learned of the salver and got my email address. The salver was the design of the famous artist Prof. Brachert, who created the famous Ost Preussen (East Prussia) design used in this presentation salver, as well as others. They requested photos for a retrospective of that artist they were preparing. Here is a image of the back of the massive silver salver showing the bolts holding the pieces together. As with other authentic Königsberg Amber pieces, the salver is impressed with the Staatl. Bernstein Manufaktur (SBM) in Königsberg.
