Hello, Big Boy, and welcome to GDC.

What you have is some kind of sheath knife or "fighting knife", but you knew that grin

Beyond that, I don't recognize the trademark, but hopefully someone will.

If you can, in the future, try to post the pictures themselves as the links eventually die.

Do you collect any other military stuff ?

Thank you Dave, I am not a collector of military goods necessarily, more of a vintage blade collector. This piece i acquired at a estate auction recently all i can find on Streisguth is a couple old straight razors on ebay. I am wondering if maybe in WW1 or WW2 if this straight razor maker wasn't conscripted into making fighting knifes.. but that is a big guess and i really have no idea. As for the pictures will do!

Thank you

Chris,

That maker is not listed in "German Knife and Sword Makers". Do you know where Streisguth is from?

The only reference I have lists Streisguth as a maker in Strasbourg and active from approx 1830 until 1850. Products included razors, knives, and medical instruments.

There were several German makers that made this type of knife. They are usually called Bowie knives. I have seen many that have the same cut blade with the Stag handle plates.
I have one someplace in the safe.I will try to find it, and post the maker. Mine is marked Germany, so I'm sure post war.

found one of my newer ones. EDGE BRAND, Solingen Germany. Blade marked Original Bowie Knife.
Blade looks identical to this one. Thick Stag grip plates. 7 7/8" blade.
I would say Hunting-Forestry related.
