I guess a silly question,,,but are they 3ed reich era? or WW1, interwar?.. Have you guys seen them emblazoned with swastikas' or images of uncle Adolf? etc...

It’s tough to sometimes date these things but from my own collecting, I’d guess a majority predate the 3R. The hilt Hörster would likely be 3R based on the maker mark, which is quite unusual to find on an axe.

Generally speaking, Feuerwehr edged weapons reflect their apolitical status. Even on the private purchase items, they’re rarely festooned swazs and the like. Indeed, it is much more likely that if you find an etched Feuerwehr bayonet or dagger with such symbols that it is postwar modified.
