It measures 2,1 cm width, so it is very small. Is it a memory badge or...?

Do you have any idea ?

Unfortunately no idea! Never seen a badge like this, but very interesting. Would like to have some good pics for printing in my coming book of westwall rings, if you agree, benten!!

I think it is something to be worn on a coat lapel.

Dave, that is a good possibility . Maybe for office people of the Westwall or so ? Or as a memory for an offical visit at the Westwall....... .Just some thoughts .

I do not recall seeing an example of the badge. I'm sure you checked the ring forum. Perhaps it will show up in a period catalog or advertisement.

Given the small size, could be also for a side cap or other (military) headwear?

Joe, yes, I also looked after many period photos of all kind of involved people.

Here are some more pictures.

I haven't found any info about it, but anyway, could we say that this badge is an authentic period item ?

Thanks in advance,
Benten :)

What material do you think it is made from? Aluminum with a coating, brass? Was it originally silver coated?

I see nothing that keeps it from being a period piece. But postwar Veteran piece is also a possibility with no offending crooked cross.

Hello dj-Joe

The material of all parts are made of brass. Perhaps a good sign for period item ?
Even the pin , you should think it is iron, is made of brass. It is a very small badge; 2,1 cm width. Postwar......that is a good thought, but most of the (period) Westwall rings didn't have a swastica.

From the photos, I got the impression that it was made of bronze, but it is brass?
