Hello All,

Posted about this bayonet many moons ago, but could not locate old posts.

This was inherited from my Dad, who was in the Merchant Marines during WWII.

It shows its age, but is still solid after all this time.

WKC, matching S.B.5404, with NCO knot I got from Johnson's (Dad said it originally had an all silver knot, don't know what became of it)
Reagrding the frog, it is stamped with what appears to be:

BERL KOFFERFABRIK
INH MAXDENGOW
BERLIN SO 16
1936

Any rarity as to the maker?
Is it common to be marked like this

Looks like a nice piece, frog is proper marked Berl.Kofferfabrik, Inhaber (owner) Max. Densow, Berlin 1936, a well known helmet inside futteral leather equipment producer too, the grips looks nice, i assume its a shortened blade post 1938, marked Schutzpolizei Berlin with correct police knot. b.r.Andy

WKC is a known maker and was prolific in their production of Polizei bayonets. WKC is not a rare maker at all, probably one of the more commonly found makers. There are also reproductions of WKC bayonets but happily this is a period original in nice condition.

Thanks for the info.

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my questions. I meant rarity for the frog. was not sure if there was any info on this and I'd bet there were alot of different manufacturers for them.

I would like to find a nice, used Officer's knot for this someday, as my Dad said it originally had a silver one on it.

The piece is not Officer Sidearm, was used by policeman, Officer of Police mostly has sabre or sword. b.r.Andy
