In a recent thread, a serious EP&S collector, my friend Stingray aka Ivan showed his magnificent HJ collection:
http://phpstack-500133-1583587.cloudwaysapps.com/~germand2/ubbthreads.php/topics/244575/7/my-packs-collection-update.html
I asked If one of his HJ knives had an anodized scabbard and he pointed out one that did.
I've had an HJ for many years that has an anodized scabbard. An early Eickhorn. Here are some photos

It has some problems: 1. Part of the strap with the snap is busted off 2. The washer is present, but split. It does not fall off but is fragile

The reason that I bought it was it was the only dedicated HJ I have ever seen.

Strange dedication, for sure.
An HJ knife dedicated to an SS Sturmfuhrer ?
Erik Thomas appeared briefly:
St?rmf?hrer Erik Thomas NSDAP # 315020 SS# 12842 Promoted Unterst?rmfuhrer 12.9.36 1937 Dienstalerliste # 6993 Duty Station: 9 Standarte Stettin

Exactly - Why ?
No idea. Maybe Eric Thomas was English.

Dave:
There are two versions that I know of the single over maker mark.
The differences are in the orientation of the ears, the arms, the squirrel foot and the writing.

John,
I don't know much about HJ, but as an SS collector I know anodized scabbards. Come to the MAX, and I'll show it to you.

Dave the initial production of thin blade Eickhorns did not come with anodized scabbards. The one you have on this Eickhorn most likely is produced in 1936 a couple of years after the knife. The Johnston sans script dedication is questionable imo, there is no sensible explanation why an English dedication would be applied on a HJ Knife, also the time frame is strange. The production date of the knife and the promotion of the SS Sturmf?hrer differ quite a few years.

Yes,
Big mystery ... which is why I bought it many years ago.
Eric Thomas promoted to Sturmfuhrer in 1936 and a scabbard from 1936 with (?) an earlier knife. And, with a dedication in English.
Is there an authoritative book on the HJ knives ? I suspect that as with other daggers, there are ecorded anomalies.
Anyone else have a dedicated HJ ? I do not remember seeing any.

Dave I'm surprised Herman V has not added his knowledge about this HJ knife. he knows a lot about HJ variety. Sure is a nice piece. Ed

Well its the end of June and vacation time is here.
Several anomalies here, so maybe others are waiting to see more opinions.
HJ knives were more used and sharpened than any other knife. Probably traded or replaced. Certainly maybe even abused.
