Hello alexg, navy daggers with plain blades are at least scarce and imho very underrated. Although unmarked the kind of grip wire is very prominent for navy daggers of the HOELLER firm. On the other hand, I am not sure if the eagle does fit to a HOELLER manufactured dagger. Even more the brass color of the crossguard does not conform with the brass color of the pommel eagle. The crossguard looks recently polished. IF something normally looks more shiny on a dagger it is the pommes (not the crossguard) as the hand is more often hold up on the pommel than any other part of the dagger.
During all my times of collecting the plain blade daggers have been either WKC marked and had all their prominent features or they were unmarked but did ALSO show the prominent WKC features. Up to now I personally have not seen a H?LLER or H?LLERE type navy with unmarked blade.
Generally I am not too keen about this dagger and I would like to hear what Oleg is telling us at least about the pommel eagle.
Regards,

Hello Wotan!

Thank you for your answer!
I know Oleg s site. Very good stuff!

The way I see it...the eagle looks H?rster made to me.

Maybe that every or few pieces of the dagger put together so later?

BR,
Sandor

alexg, sorry, NO. HOERSTER (if the pommel is from HOERSTER) and HOELLER did not have a close relationship. Moreover I am not aware of any close relationship for exchanging parts of HOELLER to any other firm. When you do study the site of Oleg you see at the WKC page with the plain blades exactly what I have said about plain blades. And although I do not want to exclude a plain blade from any other manufacturer I personally have not seen one.
I do not have a proof for it but I tend to think that there has been a dagger with a denazified pommel and somebody did change the pommel with a good one (but from another manufacturer).
Regards.

Hi Alexg,
I would say leave it. I agree with Wotan, the eagle is by H?rster, not by H?ller. The rest looks to be by H?ller. In my opinion the blade
has been replaced.
Best,
Oleg.
