I came across some really cool stuff last week which I would like to share with you. This is the first one. It is metal, and has been painted, I think. Is this a real WWI German Helmet, and roughly what is it worth?
Thanks for looking.
Chief

These were worn by cavalry troops, and is a wartime Currasier helmet. Looks like an enlisted version. Missing the chinstrap and cocades (typical) value IMO $650-1200 or so. Maybe clean some of the dust of an repost some daylight pics. There may also be a unit stamp somewhere inside. Nice helmet!

Nice lid Chief. I agree with Jerry about the value being somewhere between $600-$1,200.

Thanks guys, I really do appreciate the help.
I will clean it a bit when I get some time, and will post the after pictures as well.
Where should I look for unit stamps?

That I don't know Chief. My knowledge about these spiked lids is very limited.

On a Calvary helmet, markings if it has any, will be on inside of back visor trim, or underneath kokarden on sides stamped into the metal.

What kind of markings would it have James, if there are any? I'm not really into these spike helmets but I'm curious what markings you could find inside of these lids.

Cheers,

Gerry

if it has one, and it may not, usually something like J.Z.P followed by a number.
