Hello I'm new at this forum and it looks great. I'm from Latvia and collecting Waffen-SS items and WW2 rings, but especially Latvian SS stuff and Latvian rings. I want to share with you with photos of my Latvian ring and brooch collection. I will be happy to hear your comments. Also I will be happy if someone shows other Latvian ring designs or Latvian rings in his collection or just interesting photos related to this topic. Thank you so much.
Kind regards, Sergey

As Latvian WW2 collector. I want tell you a little bit about Latvian rings. Text below describes how to recognize early or late Latvian ring. So, the oldest of all six rings - ring #4 (unused and unworn). Why? Because this ring has only two signs of wear/die stamp defects. The next will be ring #1. This ring also have two signs of wear/die stamp defects, but there is also the beginning of the third track. Next will be #3 and #5, they have three signs of wear/die stamp defects. But the ring #5 is little older, as signs of wear/die stamp defects them a little less. (this is particularly seen on the signs of wear/die stamp defects #1) Well, the most "young" rings are rings #2 and #6 - they both have four signs of wear/die stamp defects, but judging by the signs of wear/die stamp defects ring #2 a little bit younger than ring #6. P.S Information and photos was given to me by my friend who also collects Latvian and other volunteers items. I'm translate it to you

Sergey! Nice to meet u! You have found the best ring forum and ring guys around..,your collection is just incredible! There may be no parallel to that in terms of Latvian rings in a collection on the planet, my friend! (Challenger please post yours!) The study you've put into these is remarkable--/ so I'm noticing the details and known flaws... Here's the first big question- like other tr items are we overrun with Latvian fakes too? I honesty could tell u very little about a real vs fake Latvian ring.,, also which are not / which are 100% ss? We've had some issues with patriotic vs ss volunteer here... Also let me just say I may have found a new addiction- I'm getting deeper and deeper drawn to foreign ss ( who wouldn't by mid war weren't over half the ss foreign?) however I'm well known as a skull ring nut and I'm loving your 2 skull rings - what can u tell us about them (they are beautiful!!) regards Mike

Welcome to the forum.. A very very nice collection you have going there.. To answer your PM these are the only Latvian rings I have..
All the rings seen are of the Patriotic type. True SS wore them, so did regular army, labor and civilians. So far I have seen only one true SS Latvian ring. This is it.

Anyone even seen a ring like that in real life other than a picture? So that example would be the only one that would be strictly for ss? Did non ss personal wear ss rings?

Good question Chris - I know we've identified patriotic rings that went 2 ways- but when u mention that my first thought is the industry that sprung up after those ss officers began sporting their sshrs.

What are Latvian rings like trigger's worth on the open market generally? How common are they compared to other foreign volunteers? They look very well crafted with an amazing amount of detail!

Now I will show you few fake/reproduction examples. There is two types of postwar latvian rings. First type is bijouterie rings made in 90s by "Dailrade" (from latvian - "creation" or "creative work") factory. All those bijouterie rings from 90s were made from Neusilber (other names - Nickel silver, German silver, Alpacca). So I will show you few examples of such rings

The SS ring is a good well known pattern..
The copy patriotic Latvian rings have been around for a while. Andris is a contributing member here so maybe he'll have some comments about the rings...

Also one interesting ring. This ring was bought by my friend from relatives of woman who worked in The Lettische Volkshilfe, or Tautas Palidziba (Peoples' Aid). This organization gathered charitable assistance for families in need and front. According to relatives, the woman received the ring in this organization.

This ring was found in capitulation positions by my friend. As you can see that ring plate was made from Latvian 5 lats silver coin.

The one skull ring,,with the Russian content mark is not Russian, nor German, and probably not wartime.. It has dragons on it and they're wearing crowns. Years ago a friend showed me an advert for it. It said something about a fairytale, a mens ring and from Sweden.
You sure that skull ring, [your avatar] is ground dug? That is in great condition..

I've wrote that this is Latvian ring with Latvian period (1927-1940) silver content hallmark. Ring from avatar is in unworn condition and not from the ground. I'm meant that there exists few examples of the same ring which was found in the ground
