Hi John,
In that case it must have been very heavy buffing on that blade. As you know, the squirrel normaly is stamped just above the RZM mark and I cannot see any traces of it on your pictures...
However, the squirrel applied on my 1936 (not dated) Eickhorn HJ-knife was applied lighter compared to the dated ones (1937, 1938,...)-> see hereunder
