Sometimes called 'Hussar' type rings or 'Wide band'... They have been around a long time. Easily from Freikorp era. There are adverts for them,,period photos etc.. They used to be a safe bet to get for a collection. Nice wide band, sometimes seam to front, sometimes to rear. Has a hollow skull that was soldered on to front. They were always in silver from 800, 835 to 900.

Lately there have been some fakes out there,,here's an easy one.

here is another,,also easy to spot as a fake..

The pattern is at least a real one and the content appears stamped in. This one is really poor.

Now,,,,this one.. Certainly finished off very nice. There is an attempt to put in a seam in one photo. What looks like a hallmark,,but no photo of it.. Skull might be separate but def not hollow... Wish I could see it in hand but for me,,a fake...

Pics are poor, but I would say that both are cast 100%.

There are less original rings than you think, much less...

Agree w hapur. First pic (box ring)shows what appears to be a join seam line in the rear of the ring, but doesn't match up with the "line" if u can call it that on the inside. Looks added post casting. Likewise, join seam off center on prior ring. Poor craftsmanship, unlikely in a pp ring like this IMO.

good yeah, I'm with you guys, fake..

2nd from last,,yeah they could have tried a little better on that join line crazy and possible the skull could be a separate piece,,,, they just fall short a little on everything..

The last example I received a email about. A friend wanted it. I took a look for a few min and didn't like it and told him to leave it be.. He still thought that maybe it had a chance. sick.
It's no good period. And, as long as the seller can come up with some old boxes to complete the con he'll keep tricking the 'true believers'..
