Not an expert but I do not like the look of the leather to the buckle. It seems to exihibit no wear around the holes. It has no age and stress cracks on the finished surface. When one considers the corrosion to the plated fitting there is an inconsistency.

I assume you have performed a sniff test. The rest of it seems aged more to my liking. This leather could have been kept in a drawer for many years so I would wait for some other opinions.

These are a minefield though and I do hope it turns out I am being over cautious.

Same!!! Leather around buckle is questionable

Also the buckle leather is easily slipped through the slit of the hanger where as everything else is stationary.

I would say it has been repaired with a new leather strap possibly using the old buckle. This is not a RZM piece so differences in assembly could still be period.
