Ron, the Sp 1 guards look nickel to me? They just have been protected from patination.

Perhaps Stirnpanzer can confirm, or better yet, show us the inside markings of Sp 1.

I agree, these fonts are different, but with Sp font being possible the exact same as seen on my early example makes me wonder if there is a possible period explanation.
