Hate to be a naysayer, but the twist to the wire is not very tight, as compared to sabers. Litte or no age or wear evident. There are people today who do this kind of work and much of it is excellent. These swords were pretty much standard in configuration and this one, of course, does not comply. If the wiring is authentic, it would likely be because the factory ran out of the standard type. It might also be this was on special order. But, given the regimentation and regulations of the SS and police, I find that doubtful. I'm not trying to "diss" the sword, but I am skeptical that the wire was period attached.
