I just got this Panther head "P" guard with pink eyes. Is this for Panzer officers? I seem to remember something about that. Doug

Apparently not. E.Pack. My camera and computer are not talking at the moment. I am so stupid. It has worked for years and now it will not. Doug

Well don't handle it too much , pink eye is very contagious.

It is particularly pink when with a lion head. A little spooky pink in shadow or low light as it picks up the light and shows a flash of pink. Doug

Doug nice pack Sword IMO the eyes are just a color variation likely due to storage conditions? Started life as red.

Could be. Just noticed that the front of the guard and back of grip are hand chased as well. Might of been a special order? Doug

Doug, if you dont mind I attach your photograph from the other forum here so it can be seen even if the photograph there should disappear.
Concerning the sabre: I have had the same model. PACK mostly did a lot of hand ciseling to enhance their produced edged weapons, so nothing uncommon and for sure nothing special ordered.
Although the eyes of the cat were more rubired I think the color of yours is just a variant due to production of the glass stone manufacturer.

Here is mine I have had. The eyes, which are held in a kind of fitting are directed more straight forward so you cannot see the color very well. But I would it classify as "midddle red".
When you look at the eagles wings it even has a lot of more hand enhancing. This did vary during the time.
Now I see that the front strap is a models variant to yours.

I don't know. I am still thinking that it would of been a hell of a QC issue for E.Pack if they ordered red and got pink eyes. If it was some storage issue or aging why are they both the same color now? I don't recall ever seeing pink before but I have only been in this for 50 years or so. I'll take it down to Portland again to show Koch Whitchurch who specialized in this stuff for more years than me. I know that there are more variations in these than you can shake a stick at. Just seems a little odd as well that I have a combination of the "Panther Head" and "Pink Eyes" here what with the "Panther Tank" and "Pink" being the armored piping color. There is a "Leutn. Muller" at a jaunty angle on the back shield that looks to be engraved in. Sure wish the blade was engraved with Panther Tanks in action on one side and a personallized sentiment on the other. Doug

Tom Whittman tells me that the pink eyes is particular to E. Pack and doesn't mean a thing. Doug

Doug,"doesn't mean a thing" is exactly what I thought and wanted to express.

Grumpy, its nearly the same which Doug showed. I have sold it years ago. PACK sabers are not often to be seen but come by from time to time.
