The knife is an original early one by Anton Wingen Jr.
The diamond is a replacement: it should have the small version insignum but here a large one (which does not fit in the cutout) has been mounted onto the grip plate. It appears to be a diamond from a HJ badge pin.

Best regards,

Herman

Herman, you can show one with such a stigma?

Alien meant "with such type of maker mark" I guess... Because most fighting was about this point. No one of us saw such kind of mark by AW before...

Here is another one with this very early, large "A.W.Jr" mark.

The same mark (without the "ges. gesch.") was also used on the very early eaglehead Hj' by this maker -> see pic 2

Best regards,

Herman

I doubt that this knife is original GJ
Here are additional photos of the icon and the manufacturer.

Hello Vitaliy,

Well noticed that there are some variations in the makers mark!

But this knife is not a copy but a nice original (except for the replacement diamond) and very typical Anton Wingen Jr made in all aspects: grip plate checkering, typical rivets, ...etc.

And here is the same mark on an early eaglehead HJ knife to assure you:

Herman

Hello Ivan,

The most left one is the Wingen knife in question, next to it is another eaglehead -but mottoed- by Wingen, the others.. I don't have to explain to you. wink

Herman

Hello Ivan,

Yes, the diamond fits in the cutout and does wiggles. Grip plates are made of wood, and the diamond is not centered as you can see.
Another -even earlier- version of this Wingen HJ-eaglehead has the diamond integrated in the grip rivet near the guard, it has the same blade without the motto. I still look for one like that...

Best regards,

Herman
