I have to correct my previous statement:
There do exist magnetic (iron based) fake chaines: I had the opportunity to check one out, yesterday at the Ciney fair. The marks were poorly applied. Asking price was 300 EUR (= 400 US$).

Thank you for the update! In the future if it's not too much trouble. And you have the opportunity, I would be interested in seeing the quality of this iron based fake and its markings.
