A friend brought in this pennant for my comments.

IMO, this is a relatively nicely made, 2 sided, toned heavy bullion. It is on a black felt-type cloth with black edge tape and tie "strings" for attachment. There are no sewn-in reinforcement or stiffeners. Nothing glows under black light.

It measures approx. 8.25" x 12.5"

Black stitching details are somewhat better on this particular pennant than the repro pennants currently found on the internet.

I gave him my opinion (which was not exceedingly positive) but told him it would be better to search out opinions from more knowledgeable SS/flag/bullion collectors.

So, what are the opinions? Possibly authentic? Reproduction? Fantasy?

Appreciate any comments.

Thank you.

Apart from being a fantasy design , the typical Pakistani embroidery doesn't hold a candle to period items , sorry ..

Thanks, everybody, for your confirmations...esp. Winkelman for taking the time to show the informational comparison between fake and real.

Hopefully, now, anyone who may have been in doubt, can begin to see what is meant when "Pakistani embroidery" is referenced.

We were lucky enough to have this piece at our SOS table this year..
Once you see up close, handle a bit and really inspect something like this quality nothing like the 1st piece asked about will even be on your radar...
Best when at the shows when you see something like this,,even if you can't afford it,,ask questions,, take your time and have a really good look,,ask,,you might be surprised and the seller will actually let you handle it a short bit [never know until you ask!] ..
