I agree with the both of you. I like to leave these things be, I don't clean anything unless it's "modern dirt", the patina I don't touch. I know it will eventually come back however I'll be long gone. I've had this about 12 years and it looks like the day I bought it. If my memory serves me correctly I believe I paid $350.00 for it, and when I saw the shine I thought wow, great shape, my rooky mistake. Here are a few pictures of some other SA's I have in different stages of patination and nicotine. Wusthof ground Rohm, Kober and the Aesculap.
