Hi, can anyone let me have some info on this item please. It has a leather scabbard, which I understand is an early model, does this make it scarcer than the melal ones and is it a rare maker?

Thanks.

Common makers the scabbard is for an earlier S9805 with high ears. Keep in mind the S9805 was the most mass produced bayonet the Germans made during WWI. The most rare maker would be Amberg they only made a handfull for only one year 1915. Dual maker marks means one of them supplied the blade the other put it together.

Thanks Dow,

Does this mean that the bayonet is not original to this scabbard?

I know very little about bayonets as my main area of interest is dress daggers, but I do have a few that I am trying to find out about.
