We have been working on implementing this new motion technology as of the first of the month. and our people seem to really like it. I think it may bring some exciting new possibilities to the forum:

An interesting concept and I'd like to see how well it's accepted. Back in the mid 1970s, I set up several pcs with voice recognition and generation software to replace the keyboard and monitor. It got great reviews and generated lots of interest for a couple of years, then just died off. It's hard to beat the simplicity of the keyboard wink

I was also involved in voice recognition projects at that time as well. This was back during the original artificial intelligence boom. We hit multiple hurdles and were never able to come up with an acceptable solution.
However; I watched the recent Watson/Jeopardy Game Show project with interest and it appears that many strides have been made in this area.

OK, I should have paid better attention to the date wink

I did get around 12 pcs operational in the 1970s with the voice recognition and generation software. We used them at the Department of Justice for visually impaired individuals as mainframe computer terminals. They worked fairly well as online news readers and for legal research. We had several blind attorneys who loved them. Then we got FOIAed and I had to turn everything over to private companies. Within 6 months, we had to shut down and they never got it working right. Within 18 months, the whole concept was abandoned.

hehehehe
that's what made it so diabolical, it is totally believable.

we do have some decent software for our students with sight/auditory limitations.

Yes, it sounded like something the x-box generation would like wink The processing power available today makes all kinds of assistance software possible. I remember burning video character generation ROMs to put over sized letters on the screen and programming in assembly language because you only had 64k memory in your PC, and that was before you loaded the operating system wink
