Just before the MAX and while in Norway, I picked up a small collection of membership books and pins. Included in this collection was the following, an invitation to a Christmas party in Leningrad. The invitation was from the commander of the 2nd SS Infantry Brigade (motorized).

John, it is an amazing piece of history. The commender, who signed the invitation was SS-Brigadef�hrer Gottfried Klingemann. He was the commander of the 2. SS-Infanterie-Brigade from 5 July 1941 to 25 Jan 1943. His signature is clearly readable. This item came out of a collection from a Norwegian frontfighter (Frontkjemper) from Bergen, who served a 2 year tour of duty in the SS. Foreign volunteers enlisted for two year terms and he was lucky and smart enough to survive his two years and not reenlist.
The only other German realted item I have from him is his discharge paper from the SS. I just thought that this invitation card is neat.
