Hi guys i thought i would ask this here i hope i am asking in the correct place.
Winter is on its way over here in England and i am curious if any of you guys have tried storing their daggers in those vaccum bags that you suck the air out of with a vaccum cleaner and seal up.My thought is if there is no air present then there can be no moisture in the air? I didnt want to try using these and ginnea pig my daggers and damage them in any way.In theory if it is sealed then it should stay protected but i thought i would ask you guys first for any oninions you may have on this.
Kind Regards Adam

All air has some moisture in it. If you suck out the air, I'd bet you would not get all the moisture. I'd try it with a cheap kitchen knife

I think im about 20-25 miles from the ocean, not to sure about what you mean by salt Dave? my main concern is cold and damp thats on it way in the winter months ahead. Our house has quite a bit of damp in the walls which needs sorting out and some things if left have a tendancy to go funny, we get alot of condensation on the windows and when its really cold most things are slightly damp to the touch, i presume if theres moisture in a room then theres moisture in the air? Im trying to think of the best way to keep them sealed away over winter i would be really gutted if my blades got damaged in any way, im sure you know what i mean.

For storage of blades here is what I do:

Drip 3-4 drops of silicone along the blade. Then dip your finger(s) into the Ren wax tub and create a silicone renwax mix and spread it up and down both sides of the blade. It dries in about 10 minutes and lasts. I've dug SS daggers out of the bank box after 5-6 years, wiped off the wax/silicone layer and ... same as when I put them in.

Cheers Dave by silicone i presume you mean silicone sealant for sealing windows (the transparent stuff)? Could i mix the two together in a little tub then apply to my blades 1 by 1 i have about 15 blades that need covering
Thanks for the idea Dave

NO - NOT THE SEALANT

I mean the liquid stuff. Like "Rust Free". Here is an ad from Russell Knives:

Dear Dave, I tried covering my blades with the silicone sealant as you suggested and it ruined most of the blades- I am sending by separate post a bill for $86,473 for the damage- have fun with Earl. Mike
