Well folks. here is the first type of FK badge in pure 830 S silver. extremly hard to find out there for sales. Marked 830 S w The mini is marked 830 S .Matched set.
The needle is the first type /thinn and tiny blued out of heat when thay made them up.
The Frontkjemper awards was given to the Norwegian SS volunteers. The SS dagger is a M 33 Early full nikkel. Made by Klitterman & Moog. The motto have Exclamations point. Rare dagger too find.
Hope you like it.
Only few of them are made . Thay say about 6000. But i bealive its less.

Two of my favourite things... Norwegian medals and pictures (and, oh yeah, an SS dagger)!
Great combination you show here and not often seen in North America by us.
My friend, you have an amazing collection.

You welcome Paul. These badges are higly cost. If you find the frontfighter Urkunde DIPLOM the price start at 14000 Norwegian Krones.( only for the DIPLOM) I have add such Diplom into the tread. That one went for 25000 NOK with a small miniatyr FK badge. Early 830 SW FK badge cost from 10 000 NOK to 14000 NOK++ The Lot of FK with red background are owned by a freind of me. LH

That is one heck of a photo... an FK and an Germanic Proficiency Runes Badge (is it that on the last soldier).
And the Germanske SS Norge collection is super. I see 6 FKs and 2 miniatures. I know of 4 variations of the silver FK, including the magnetic and non magnetic pins, and one zinc, but that only makes 5??? And what are the variations on the miniatures?

Ha Ha... I did see the 7th (sure, I did), but do not expect it to be a variation.. the box is enough.
The FK I show here is the square number, right?
And the mini FK is the round number?

Great badge, besides of high ideals it represents (fighting the red plague), I like the design and style - viking warrior and runes-like lettering. Looking at volunteer propaganda stuff from different nations it seems that Norway has one of the most interesting artworks, like for example all those "skijeger" posters, or the one with drakkar in the background or that with soldier and viking ("Nordmenn, kjemp for Norge") etc.

Funny the high value of this material within a country where they will not even repat the dead members go figure Thanks Paulbear Yes they cost much. There is few of them for sales and many are lost or even destroyed. The best investment is the Silvermarked ones 830 S or the 830 SW ( earliest first type) Some year ago i find one at E bay . I ask the woman a question about the badge and few days later several peoples tell the lady to not sell it . thne she remove /stop the auction sorry. I never seen that badge anymore. I wish i could buy it... Lasarus are you here ? Please post some more info if you can. This tread expand more then i tought

Paul:
The generation that lived through the war years and even the generation after them engaged in what I consider to be deliberate mass amnesia.
It is only recently that Norwegians have been asking about the war years and collecting the memorabilia relating to the very real and very intense involvement in the war, and on both sides.
Just my take on things. I got interested in this stuff because my wife is Norwegian and no one of her mother's generation (and there are only a few left) and few in my wife's really want to talk about this stuff... better to stay silent and not stir up bad memories.

NORWEGIAN SOLDIERS: To lay the remains of the Norwegian soldiers in German service in a Russian forest (Kaprolat) on the border with Finland, when a Russian expedition was there in 2005. In these areas, about 130 Norwegian front fighters killed in battles with the Russians in 1944

Hi Bill Im glad you like this tread. Thanks for great words.
-------Here is some more info about the Frontfighters in SS
A front fighter was a Norwegian who during World War II could be referring to German military service in the Waffen-SS. Refer None began in January 1941 and the first reported with participating in the Division Wiking during the attack on the Soviet Union that year. Norwegians fought in battles at Leningrad, in Finland, the Narva front in Poland during the withdrawal and ultimately took about 150 Norwegians during the recent fighting in Berlin in May 1945.
It was during the war around. 15 500 Norwegians who wanted to enlist him. Approximately 6000 of these met the requirements, and of these, something in excess of 5000 frontline soldiers. Between 700 and 900 fell during the war. 308 frontline soldiers are still formally considered missing.
Refer No one was at first portrayed as participation in aid to Finland in the country's struggle against the Soviet Union. Finland had poor conditions of a ceasefire agreement after the Winter War, and many had sympathy for the Finnish case. The fight against the Soviet Bolshevism was also an important factor for many of those who signed up. In the beginning they would be set up as a Norwegian army, the Norwegian Legion, under the Norwegian flag and kommmando. This promise was back at the Germans, and Norwegians were distributed in other divisions of the Waffen-SS and placed under German command. Many of the front fighters turned on because of this the Vidkun Quisling, who they believed had betrayed them.
North man who achieved the highest rank in the SS was Olaf T. Lindvig, which was SS Hauptsturmfhrer. This corresponds to the rank of captain. The highly decorated front fighter was Frederick Jensen, who received the German Cross in gold. ------------------

It is one of the items I acquired on my September trip to Bergen.
And, yes, it is original... very large, much larger than my Den Norske Legion poster, for example.
I just love it.
