Original? Yes. Probably early war period (1940/41 ish) with generic pot metal fittings minus any of the original plating. Scabbard minus one band. Would be more common to see one of this period with a plaster filled grip but this one is solid trolon.

War is when your government tells you who the enemy is.
Revolution is when you figure it out for yourself.

While in hand, and in sunlight I think is better for making a determination of what we are seeing. From what I seem to be seeing with the images, one of the interesting things with this dagger is that it shows that the bands were most likely already in place when the scabbard was zinc plated. With the whitish residue most likely being zinc oxide. FP

Fred,

I have a plated Eickhorn and the bands are loose. When moved, the scabbard looks the same as above.

I am glad at least that it is original....even with
some condition problems.....I was a little concerned
with all that zinc........But then I remember seeing
many badges that have lost their "silver wash" and
looking much the same.......
Would it hurt to clean it some, or best left as is?
Thanks to all>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Dave
