hello, what should be done take a known fake item , split the cost among Several members, and see the results. 20 + years ago I reworked a west german helmet into an SS . the big time "experts" where at a show, and they stood in line to veiw it. I was offered CRAZY money (back then )for it.
I turned around and left ,laughing the whole time.
my father was/is a dealing & he was shocked. He let the cat out of the bag on that one, just to show they were just as stupid as anyone else. currently have one advanced helmet collector hot to trot over 2 of my helmets ; also fake from 20+ years ago. I told him they were fake AND he will not believe me!! with the correct paint ,ect. no test will help.
