Hi Guys, I was just wondering about Eickhorn Rohms , and did use the larger trademark that was located farther away from the crossguard. I see alot of old posts that most examples are of the smaller logo close to the crossguard, but somebody posted that the earliest ones did use the larger mark that was farther away. Can anyone clear this up for me. thanks

Lar, I do not believe in the large logo Eickhorn Rhm, but some people do (often those who try to sell such pieces ). Just does not make sense to me that the Eickhorn firm would produce two different blades for one order? There are the theories that the order of Rhm blades was actually made in two times, but this is not well documented. My rule with TR daggers is; "if you doubt, don't". Best greetings, Herman

Here are scans of both sides of a partially ground Roehm SA dagger that I acquired many years ago from S/Sgt. James Calvin Mccamey who served in the US 9th Armoured Division. Sgt McCamey personally liberated this dagger. We worked for the same company 50 years ago, when we were both young men. Sgt. Calvin McCamey died about 30 years ago.

My opinion is that the large Eickhorn trademark was the first used on SA and SS daggers.
The reason I say that is that SA daggers with that large trademark are found with the early "A" motto which was used on the EP&S prototypes. That proves, to me anyway, that the big trademark was the first. Both SA and SS Rohm dedication daggers are found with the large mark.
The second, much smaller trademark introduced to allow the Rohm dedication to be moved up towardsthe crossguard so it was more centered on the back of the blade.
The proof that the smaller trademark is later than the larger one is that it was used on the Himmler daggers which were issued starting after the Rohm daggers.
I hope that makes sense and if anyone has a better explanation, I would be glad to hear it.
Dave

I don't remember seeing any of these large TM Eickhorn Rohms back in the old days-50+ years ago. Lots of small TM ones and just about everything else that is super rare today-but not that. So--I wonder about those-would take a very close examination-for sure.

While I did find an early SA with the unusual motto, I have never encountered a large TM SA with a Roehm inscription. Ron Weinand Weinand Militaria PS; All the large TM Roehm dagger I have seen are not in good condition, which makes me wonder.
