Am I missing something,it's up to $800 and seems to have gathered a lot of interest judging by the Q and A's. I was always under the impression that battleships etched on an Eickhorn blade is a red flag and the hangers seem to have postwar clips.

Hi Ian, I agree and I have sent 2 emails to the seller, one offering my consignment service and then a second (after looking at the pictures) stating that I am of the opinion the dagger (or certainly parts of it) and the hangers are post war. He has thanked me for my opinion and stated he would post the 2nd email also showing my concerns but as yet he has not. Best wishes, Ian www.simplydaggers.co.uk

The blade appears to be the same pattern as the post war Weyersberg I posted. I find that interesting that two maker marks would be on the same pattern blade post war. I wonder who was making these?

Notice that they have now corrected the etched maker mark and stamped this one.

Thr grip segments are funky toward the top, usually a sign of a repro grip.

Aside from the originality of the dagger itself, several things to keep in mind:
1. "His widow & I are not experts on this." (But we know enough to know it's not period)
2. "I can't give any guaranty on this." (Because I know it's fake)
3. "We do not know if it is original or not." (Depends on what you call original)
4. "No refund possible." (Doesn't this always help give a buyer a warm feeling?)
4. "If you pay to (sic) much, I will refund it" (WTF does this mean?)
Tie it all up with a nice sob story & you have the grand old Eban yarn people used to use to sell a bunk dagger to a pigeon for the most money possible. At least he won't sell to countries where it's illegal, what a consummate tool.

Little does he know, a refund is very, very possible, no matter how many times he repeats himself.

These are new fakes. Bad stamp but a stamp and not upside down either like the old etched fakes. Better watch for these on regular blades-they may already be out there. It would be helpful if someone could enhance and enlarge this TM for everyone to see better.
