I've never seen grinding like that as well although I admit I'm not the hirschf�nger maven you are. Most of the distributor marked bayonets I've got are single marked examples with only the distributor's name appearing although I do have a number of dual marked pieces that retain the manufacturer's logo.
It would surprise me that a distributor would grind off the manufacturer's logo since keeping it there might convey to the potential buyer an impression of quality and tradition, especially with old Solingen names like Eickhorn or L�neschloss. Would this possibly indicate that the distributors were in direct sales competition with the manufacturers themselves?
