Where do you, or the dealers go to get insignia re-attached. I am hesitant to take my stuff to the neighborhood alteration people. I have a couple of pieces that had the insignia removed and I need to get those re-aplied. All dealers sell from time to time, uniforms and they state 'insignia professionally reapplied' Who does this for them. Is there somebody in the collecting community that has the tailoring skills to do this professionally? Even with original threat? Please contact me.
How do you guys deal with this. I know, there are some out there, never ever having anything untouched, with nothing removed, ever. But, I guess most of us were not that lucky.
Ok, I need a breast eagle put back on a 1st model tropical tunic, a cap eagle sewn to an Infantery crusher cap, and an breast eagle soon to a tropical shirt. None of this, is something I can do.
Thanks, Wolfgang

Any good tailor shop should be able to do it if you have an example they can follow. I've done some in the past but only when I had an example to copy the sewing style from. Check the websites for www.ostfront.com, www.atthefront.com, and www.lostbattalions.com. They all offer reproduction uniforms with insignia and should be able to help you out.

Be careful in what you do, it means a lot to some collectors if the piece has been altered. The 'pool' of people who might buy a piece with missing insignia goes down from an un-altered piece and then goes down again when some latter-day tailor re-attaches said insignia...professionally done or not. I think most people would rather see the insignia either placed in the pocket or safety pinned in place. There is a reason you see dealers w/pieces marked 'insignia professionally reapplied', because they have a harder time selling it. Don't get me wrong, there are all manner of collectors out there that have no problem buying altered pieces, but there are also those that would not touch it because of the alteration. Tread lightly.
