These can be a little tough, because many were foreign made (Dutch, etc). I can tell you this is not the German quality bullion work, and it does not look like any I have seen, but I do like the piping, I'm just not that crazy about the runes.

Lets see what other have to say?

I like the overall construction. Some quality and attention to craftmanship there. Buckram backing doesn't look too bad either. But those runes just don't match the rest. I agree with Jerry on those.

Glad to see this item is causing a bit of debate, perhaps made in one of the other countries of manufacture to a lower quality ? I hope it turns out to be OK, even if inferior in quality as it came from a good source.

This is the more "standard" one out there. I also had a flemmish made one, I'll see if I can find some pics.

Are those threads on the back or drops of paint? Paint drops are a sure sign of a Pakistani fake.

Not paint , just threads , apart from using fewer threads on the runes, mine looks identical to others.

I see the white paint dots forming the cutting lines plain as day...a telltale sign of a Pakistani fake!

I see what you mean now ! ! There is a row of tiny dots near to each edge on the back ? I rubbed them with my nail and they came off but obviously this is a well known (to you guys ! )giveaway of a fake. many thanks for sorting it to all who have helped. You would think the fakers would just scrape them off, it only takes a few seconds !
