A nice helmet, Darryl. It would be nicer if it showed the swastika shield under the heer eagle. Shu

Hi Shu, Never say "never". Look what I found today as I was going over the helmet with a 10x loupe magnifier. Is that some RED behind the swastika?

Remnants of a party shield?
This is just too much. Certainly this ranks as one of the most fascinating helmets that I have ever seen.
Just imagine it...the man who accidently bought a double decal SS.
A dozen years ago some guy bought a painting at a yard sale here in michigan. It was an amateur painting but apparently quite old. When he took it apart to re-frame it, he found that there was encased in the back one of the original copies of the declaration of independance..... In my view, that find was nothing compared to this one!

No, no, no.... Darryl, you collect "blackies". This is not worthy of your collecting interests. Best send it up north to me. I'm sure I could find a spot for it somewhere. WOW!

"the man who accidently bought a double decal SS helmet" Ken, you definitely have a way with words. But in essence, you are entirely correct. Bernie, This helmet just has a temporary home here at my house. Sooner or later it will be leaving to reside with a new appreciative collector. Cheers,
Darryl

Wow, Darryl, unbelievable. I kind of suspected it should have a possiblility of being a former DD when I look at the original smooth finish inside, but I couldn't see the decal underneath the eagle. Amazing. That's a good illustration of how what appeared to be a common helmet can turn out to be something special or rare. Of course, not every single reissue has this potential. A great find. Shu
