Dion Wittmann does state that some early blades were nickel plated but does not matter either way on this one I would be happy with either. You can use acetone to take the grease off the blade I bet it shines like a diamond. I did bid $1050 on the dagger in the last minute but my bid was not accepted because it had already surpassed that.
