Well I thought I would post a few pictures of my Pride and Joy, for those of you that know what I promarily collect(Hirschfngers)this seems to be somewhat different for me, I have, for some while though collected Shooting prize awards. This to me represents the ultimate shooting award something I doubt I could better in my life time. The dedication reads " Ehrenpreis fr hervorragende Schielsleistungen 1892/den Hauptmann von Mueller vom Grenadier- Regiment Konig Friedrich III (1. Ostpr) No 1." translated to "Honor prize for outstanding Shooting 1892 Awarded to Captain von Mueller of Grenadier- Regiment King Friedrich III (1st East Prussia) No 1." This piece produced by Gust Laute, Hoflieferant Berlin has a Maiden hair pattern damascus pattern it is only visable after the presentations and runs to the tip.The Ricasso is gilted up to the presentations which luckily for the age of the sword it is still all there as is the gilt on most of the hilt. The grip has two cyphers, one for King Friedrich III who only reigned for 3 months betwen Kaiser Wilhelm I and Wilhelm II.The second cypher is a scrolled date below a crown with a date of 1655, this date represents the year this regiment was first raised. The Pommel cap is decorated with a raised out W and the roman No 2. The hilt features a crowned Prussian eagle with a raised out "WII" monogram.
I wish my picture taking was better but I hope you guys get the idea just how beautiful this piece is.
Gary

Repeating myself here but that is a really lovely sword, you have some fabulous hunting pieces but this is the cream of the crop. Where on earth did you find it ?

The condition is stunning, I had never seen anything quite like it before, as a shooting prize it has to be one of the best out there, as a sword I should think there are not many in better condition. I found it about a year ago, TW mentioned he had just got it in, I was one of the first to see it and snapped it up, it took me a year to pay for it but was worth the wait.
