Does anybody use a room dehumidifier in thier collection room? I am becoming increasingly concerned with potential for damage, especially to flags due to the high volume of humidity this summer in San Diego.
If anyone uses one, how have the results been?
Thank you in advance.

Ask GDC member Goldfasan. I believe he uses one in "The Bunker."

I have a small collection room in the basement, and when I put the de-humidifier in there, the room got very hot. Si I took it out of that room. Now I have 2 dehumidifiers in the other areas of the basement, and put both a heating/air conditioning vent in the storage room as well as a return. Right now I am at 60% humidity in there. It usually varies from 50% to 65%. Also, I leave the doors open a couple of times a week to let the air move around as well.

Hello.
I dry buildings for a living, dehums are okay but to control the humidity better I suggest buying a desicant unit. They are smaller, quieter and more efficient. You can also hook them up to a hygrometer. That way you can set the desired humidity and it will switch when needed. It can also be vented so you do not need to be concerned over raised temperatures.
Hope that helps
