Gentlemen,

Just wonder where you guys are finding HJ knifes for your collection?

- Dealers?
Not much HJ knifes are offered anymore during the past years in my opinion.

- Local shows?
In the US and/or Canada? I would like to hear about that.
In Europe this is still a fairly good way of finding them, though during the last years they seem to dry up. At some shows you cannot find a single decent knife anymore...

- Big shows in the US and/or Canada?
I was at the SOS last year, from the first opining day only a handfull of collectable knifes was offered for sale and a bid more beater knifes.
Same with the big European shows: last Ciney show (biggest in Belgium) in Novemver 2006 almost no HJ's were offered, not even at ridiculous high prices.

- Collector to collector?
Yes, the for sale section of this site offers sometimes a couple of nice knifes. At the moment there are some nice ones for sale Wink
Are there any other collector channels that are worth checking out?

- E-Bay or other auction sites? My E-Bay experience with HJ knifes is rather bad: beaters are offered as collectable knifes (over the years I have bougt 2 and both were sold again within months). Other auction sites do not seem to attrackt much offerings, because they lack bidders?

- Other HJ knife channels?

Would like to hear your stories and best (or worst) experiences with buying HJ knifes.

Best greetings,

Herman

I agree with your statements, 100%. I would say the ONLY way to buy a nice HJ, one that you are looking for, is collector to collector.

There are of course really nice ones on the dealers sites from time to time, but never the one that you are looking for. Always before you get your eyes on a "new" makers mark that you fall in love with, or shortly after you bought one.

(Always looking for named/personalized/"altered" HJ knifes/bayos and Brannik/czech youth knifes)

Most of the common types: SAs, SS M33s, Army, Luftwaffes and HJ KNIVES are being collected by manufacturer more and more in today's market.
Therefore, less and less of the better conditioned HJs are available and the demand is increasing.
Who said the market was dying and there were no new collectors entering the market place??

Don,
Nice knife, manufactured by WKC
( Weyersburg ). In this condition value is around $250-$350 depending on how much somebody wants it!. Does the diamond appear pebbled?, from the picture the finish looks matt / flat! which is a bad sign.

Thanks for the welcome. The picture does not show it well however the diamond is quite glossy and not matt at all. Also when I tap on the diamond it rattles which I understand is a good thig as it is not glued on.
