Jim. Some people use simichrome but it does remove the crossgrain if rubbed to hard. I was told it is best to leave it the way it is. Some other members might have something better?

Jim, I would leave them alone, but, if they bother you that much, you could try a metal polish or very fine sandpaper (2000 grit or above) and wet sand the blade. Keep in mind the marks will likely return if you put the dagger back in the scabbard. Also, you run the danger of removing etching darkening and creating "drag marks" around the etching if you polish or sand too hard.

I have a mint, mint nskk dagger. That made it into the the late 90,s with out a mark on it.Perfect cross graining,Nothing but perfection. The scratchs came from the first collection it was in.They just could not leave the blade out of the scabberd. They had to play the in and out game with it.I talked to the guy who got it out of the wood work. There were no scratches when he got it.What a shame!!!
