Joe, Thank you for the info. I do recall that now that you mention it. It's certainly a WW2 issue medal bar, and clearl the "Hindenburg" for combatants is post '34. I sort of assumed the bearer had moved his original EK2 to the medal bar.
This one has no frosting at all. Just oxidized patina on all 4 arms. The combatant cross is also marked on the backside of the lower arms bottom. Can't recall what it's marked with, but I do know it has three alpha characters.
