Hi,
I'm a newbie to this forum and to daggers. My name is Joe and I'm from Liverpool, England. I have recently inherited a dagger that I have been promised for years from my Grandfather who brought it back from Italy in WWII.
I can always remember this from my Grandfathers house and so does my father so I know its 100% genuine, I unfortunatly don't know how and where it was aquired, just that it was retrieved from a German by my Gradfather personally.
I know this much so far from the great reference section:
The makers name is worn (or damaged with the Rohm inscription removal) but looking at the pictures on the reference part its an E.Pack & Sohn maker. The sides of the maker remain just enough the make out the e and the right leg, arm and a bit of the flailing fabric on the left hand side. Identical to the the stamp refered to as SS on the reference section.
The eagle also looks to be the silver veriety.
The Alles fur Deutschland inscription has a dark grey backgroun.
There is lots of crossgraining remaining on this side.
It is also marked Nm on the lower cross guard which is Nordmark I believe.
The other side has not much crossgraining remaining where the Ernst Rohm inscription has been groung off.
And after that I am on a total loss to year of manufacture, rarety of maker for a Rohm and value etc. Please note though that I wouldnt part with this, its just for insurance mainley.
I have some pictures that I will post up but I appologise for the poor quality, I really need to upgrade my camera!
I will start posting my photos now, I would appreciate any input.
Many thanks in advance,
Joe
