G24t,
I would agree with JR. Can we please get some clearer photos of the helmet? Close ups of the decals and wider shot of the liner.
Thanks,
Bryan

mmm, I agree with the above sentiments. I was e/m another black DD M35 last night, same decals, bad helmet from the word go. Maybe black M35 DD Allgemeine is fakie flavor of the month? Need better shot of decals and liner but from these pics imo not good.

Removing the liners and waxing the helmets is usually a no-no amongst collectors, it devalues the helmets. Not saying you shouldnt it is your helmet, but... the liner looks like a repro to me but I would like to see what others think. On another note, depending on the camera, lighting, and other variables black on digital can look quite different than in person, esp in low light with a flash. Can you post pics outside, natural light, of paint, and decals head on as close as possible without blurring the images?

The black paint is not original and the decals are reproductions IMO. Removing the liner?!!!...well, that's a whole other story.

Darryl my thoughts exactly and you are the "black" expert. There doesnt appear to be the satin finish this helmet is trying to emulate.

just for grins, I was told that my m35 et 64 helmet liner was not German, it is stamped on the band 1939. Also that the runes are not right. I have taken it as a given that the helmet is not right per the many posts. Just would like to know the difference. this is for me in future purchases. The first photograph is my liner

I took these photographs with my new camera. The old camera made the liner look a lot darker. g24t

I guess, lets not open this subject up again. I know its not right per the posts, but it looks good and will have to do as a reproduction for my collection. I have already traded the white camo that I had, another collector wanted it, he was happy and i was happy, He saw the posts on the forum. Thanks g24t

g24t,
No matter how much you want this helmet to be real, it simply isn't. Best to let it go and find a real one if that is what you're after.
Cheers,
Darryl

that why I want to close this string. I know its not, the question was what in the liner shows its not german. Anyway I not going to revisit this string concerning this helmet. g24t

just compare the leather with real examples , the quality of the leather is different , the color ... Smell it ... New or treated leather smells entirely different than old leather. Look at how the leather has all these folds , a worn original liner will not show these folds. Comparing it with photos in a book won't get you anywhere if you don't know what to look for.
