Also, with respect to damascus, it is the safest bet, when opting for a damascus piece for your collection, to go for a Tiger or Fredricus marked blade, with a P+D tang marking. These are the safest pieces to buy. Next would come any piece with a raised TM, such as Eickhorn or Alcoso. Then, would come an unmarked-tang piece, but with the P+D damascus pattern. Be very careful when buying a damascus piece that has strange tang markings, or has a pattern that does not match the P+D pattern. Such pieces may be real, but should be approached with extreme caution.
