This is a civic "square-dip" helmet...the type most often used by the fire-police services. This is a fairly early example with the swaz and tri-colour decals and the aluminum "comb" on top of the helmet. You can see the leather tabs affixed to the liner which would have secured a leather neck-protector flap for hot embers and cinders. It was commercially produced and has the patent trademark (DRP - Deutsche Reichs Patent) and the industrial region of THALE stamped into the metal.
