I need to hear from you that are trying to protect leather.

Who prefers either pecard antique or Tandy's lenox.

Time is passing and leather is subject to deterioration.

Rod,

My personal experience has been to first use 'Lennox Leather Cleaner' for cleaning. Then 'Pecards' for treatment, rejuvenation and preservation.

Thank you Rod for bringing this question up. I was considering starting a similiar thread. Here's another question. I had recently treated a noticeably dry sword knot that had a bit of red-rot with Renwax. I have some Pecards on the way and am wondering if now i need to remove the Renwax prior to the Pecard application. Will the Renwax inhibit the proper absortion of the leather treatment?

Rod & Tom,

As to your question about removing the Ren Wax before applying Pecards, yes, I would remove it and then apply the Pecards and then reapply a wax polish.

As I mentioned in my previous posting, my ideas are to first clean the item then apply a preservative of your choice, mine being Pecards and then in the finale, if desired, apply a wax or polish.

However, it mostly depends on what type of leather and the specific item i.e. soft or hard, formed or pliable etc.

Although Ren Wax won't harm the leather after the procedures as above, again myself, I prefer a different leather polish or wax other than Ren Wax for leather.

Just my own opinions and thoughts from my experience which I believe that you will receive many differing opinions. Again, depending on the item and the desired effect.

(a pair of boots to be worn in the elements is quite different than the preservation or treatment of a German gun holster or a Civil War leather item)
