Hi Vic,

Sorry to say that I am not liking what I see, decal wise. Let's wait and see what the 'camo and wire' fellows have to say...although that looks bad too.

Cheers,

Darryl

As a starter, that is post war "double twisted" American wire, artificially rusted to start with. Liner looks artificial as well. The camo paint is always hard to judge on photos, but if the decal is bad, wire is bad and liner is bad.......

It's not a good one, as mentioned US double twist wire, repro liner, camo and decals. If it had been real it would have been a very rare bird, DD SS, camo, wire and a M40! Tim.

Not much more to add.
The helmet is a total reproduction designed to fool new collectors.

Like Tim mentioned think about how rare a helmet like this would be, if real.

Like my friends said, everything's incorrect about this one. It's a screaming fake. One of the easiest one to spot. Sorry to say. Frown

Like I said not my area, and obviously it is good that I like daggers. It just looked so nice sitting on my friends shelf.

Thanks for the quick input----I expected you guys would jump on this one way or the other.
Wow, the future collectors of SS helmets, watch out. Of course I am only echoing what has been said on this forum many times before.

Looks like a great helmet to study as a "BAD" example, which is important also!

Vic,

As I am sure it is the case with daggers, once you know what to look for it is fairly easy to distinguish the good from the bad. It's the same with helmets. As you can see from the comments above, there really is no question about this one...it is a repro and quite obvious to helmet collectors who have been around for a while. It is only the novice who normally gets fooled with a helmet like this one.

Cheers,

Darryl

Well, a few years ago I would have fallen for this one. Now, thanks to a forum education, that would not happen. Still, think of the new collectors who eagerly buy these things only to be soured and depart this hobby bitter and dissappointed. That is why we should all be thankful to those veterans who give so much of their time and advice to the new collectors. Bless 'em all.

what a wonderful looking helmet...for a couple hundred bucks I would jump on it...and make it into the best looking beer bong you ever drank out of...your SteinMeister...Roland.
